Women in Tech – Amy Stirling, Finance Manager

Leading women at Red Ant tell their stories and share their advice.

Background

I’m a qualified Chartered Global Management Accountant/CIMA and a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians/AAT. I’ve been Red Ant’s Finance Manager for seven years – I started on 2.5 days a week to fit around childcare and as my child grew older and needed my time less and the business needed my time more, increased this to four days.

Role

I oversee Red Ant’s national and international financial processes, from co-ordinating financial arrangements with partners and suppliers to managing internal finances including salaries, benefits, expenses and equipment.

Greatest/most significant professional achievement

I completed my CIMA exams with Red Ant’s support as well as working part time and raising a young family.

One piece of advice for women in tech

Don’t be afraid to ask when you need help. It’s not a form of weakness, it shows strength – no one knows it all and we should all continue to look to grow and learn.
