Women in Tech – Isobella Callaby, Front End Engineer

Leading women at Red Ant tell their stories and share their advice.

Background

I got interested in tech from a young age and used to play around with software used for making websites in the early days, such as Photoshop and Flash. I did a BSc in web development, and from there got myself a junior role in a creative agency, where I got enough experience for my current job.

Role

I write the code for websites, web apps and native apps. I work with the team to help solve client challenges, using an agile process to break them down into tasks that I can work on using my skills as a developer.

Greatest/most significant professional achievement

Being given a lead development role working on a project for a prestigious brand has been a pretty significant achievement for me.

One piece of advice for women in tech

Persevere, don’t give up, and learn from the people you work with. In my experience 99% of them don’t give a hoot about which gender you are and simply want to help you succeed.
